Know the Signs

Heaviness isn’t just tiredness.

Aching, swelling, restless legs, and skin changes are how veins ask for help — and vein disease is one of medicine’s most undertreated conditions.

Leg Pain or Heaviness

Aching, tired, or heavy legs by end of day — often the first sign of venous insufficiency.

Ankle Swelling

Swelling that worsens through the day and improves after elevating your legs overnight.

Visible Bulging Veins

Rope-like, twisted veins visible beneath the skin surface of your legs or thighs.

Spider Vein Clusters

Fine red, blue, or purple web-like veins on thighs, calves, or ankles.

Leg Cramps at Night

Nighttime cramping or restless legs linked to poor venous circulation.

Skin Changes Near Ankles

Darkening, thickening, or itching skin — a late sign of chronic venous disease.

Procedures

Five ways to close a failing vein.

Conditions and procedures are one story: what’s wrong, and how we close it. Every procedure is performed personally by Dr. Tadepalli, in-office, under local anesthesia.

Radiofrequency Ablation Heat energy delivered via a thin catheter seals diseased veins permanently — rerouting blood to healthy vessels. A widely used, guideline-supported treatment for great saphenous vein incompetence. 45–60 min · Local anesthesia · Walk out same day

Insurance-covered when medically indicated. Best for bulging, twisted varicosities and the chronic venous insufficiency behind aching, heaviness, and swelling — without vein stripping surgery. All procedures are outpatient and completed in under an hour.

About RFA →
Endovenous Laser Ablation Laser precision delivered via fiber-optic catheter closes faulty veins with pinpoint accuracy. No incisions, no hospital stay, no scarring. No incisions · Local anesthesia · Outpatient

A minimally invasive alternative to old-fashioned vein stripping surgery, without surgical incisions. Best for saphenous vein reflux where vein anatomy favors laser over radiofrequency — the duplex ultrasound decides. Insurance-covered when medically indicated.

About EVLA →
Varithena® Foam Sclerotherapy FDA-approved microfoam injectable that treats even difficult tortuous varicosities — especially where catheters can’t reach. FDA-approved · Single injection · No catheter

A single injection session closes the saphenous vein with minimal discomfort and rapid recovery. Best for twisting, tortuous veins and recurrent disease after prior treatment. Insurance-covered when medically indicated.

About Varithena →
VenaSeal™ Adhesive Closure A non-thermal treatment that closes refluxing saphenous veins with medical-grade adhesive delivered through a catheter under ultrasound guidance. No heat · No tumescent anesthesia · Usually no stockings

Best for patients who prefer to avoid thermal energy or compression stockings, and for veins where tumescent anesthesia is less suitable. Insurance-covered when medically indicated.

About VenaSeal →
Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy Real-time ultrasound guides foam sclerosant to treat veins invisible to the naked eye. Ideal for recurrent or complex venous disease. Ultrasound precision · Deep veins · Minimal downtime

Dr. Tadepalli performs all ultrasound evaluations and guided treatments himself. Best for veins that feed visible clusters from below the surface, and for disease that has returned after earlier treatment. Insurance-covered when medically indicated.

About sclerotherapy →

Also performed in-office: visual sclerotherapy for spider veins, and microstab phlebectomy for bulging surface veins — often combined with ablation in a single session.

Many medically necessary vein treatments may be eligible for insurance coverage when veins cause medical symptoms such as pain, swelling, leg fatigue, or skin changes — eligibility depends on your plan and its medical criteria. Our office verifies your benefits before your appointment so you know exactly what to expect.
Most minimally invasive vein procedures are generally well tolerated. Local anesthetic is used when appropriate — sclerotherapy involves a fine needle, and most patients describe only a brief pinch. Temporary soreness or tenderness may occur afterward and generally settles within a few days.
Most procedures — including RFA and EVLA — are completed in 45–90 minutes as outpatient visits in our office; sclerotherapy sessions typically take 30–45 minutes, with no hospital admission. Many patients can return to routine activity soon after treatment. If you receive sedating medication or specific procedural instructions, you may need someone to drive you home.
Most patients resume daily activities the same day. Walking is actively encouraged immediately after treatment — it promotes circulation and supports healing. You will wear a compression stocking for a short period after ablation procedures. Strenuous exercise is limited for 1–2 weeks, but most normal activities can resume within 24 hours.
After a thorough duplex ultrasound evaluation, Dr. Tadepalli will create a personalized treatment plan. Most patients with isolated spider veins achieve results in 1–2 sessions. Varicose vein disease often involves 2–4 sessions depending on extent. Dr. Tadepalli will give you a clear, honest estimate — no pressure, no unnecessary procedures.
The treated vein segment is intended to remain closed. Chronic venous disease can progress over time, however, and new or recurrent varicose veins may develop in other veins. Follow-up ultrasound at regular intervals helps monitor vein health and catch new disease early.
